This years Act One alternative Pantomime. First time writer-directors Oliver Milburn and John Wittles kick the proverbial crap out of Disney's classic animated fairy tale 'Beauty and the Beast', wipping up its bloody remains with a gammy dish cloth and squeezing it into a big shiny comedy bucket that already brims with a high school election story, ridiculously costumed sexual acts, a wicked witch and more popular cultural references than Amy Whinehouse could cram up her nose.

Watch as Devon Prince, local chav, is transformed by the wicked witch of Wales and thrown into the student community of Cardiff University. Devon must learn to live with not only his grotesque appearance but also with the "9p-noodle-eating-scum" that surround him. Meeting both friends and enemies on the way, we follow Devon on his journey into studentism and the chaos that is Election week. Can the curse be broken? Probably. Will he ever escape? Doubtful. Will he somehow enter the election, meet the love of his life, be spurned by her, change accordingly, be accepted by her and live happily ever after in harmony with the community that surrounds him? Well ... that would be telling, wouldn't it.

The play tells the story of the passionate and devastating relationship between Antony. one of the three Leaders of the Roman World and Cleopatra, Egypt's tempestuous Queen, supported by a cast of allies and enemies and traitors. With a very modern set, elements of dance and some very physical theatre, Antony and Cleopatra promises to be a visually stunning and very different take on Shakespeare's play, whilst remaining woven together with the romance and traditionalism of the original text.

The story starts following Frederick a young duty obsessed Pirate who has just completed his apprenticeship as a Pirate. He leaves to return to civilisation where he quickly falls in love with Mabel, a daughter of the Major General. Frederick compelled by duty turns on his former Pirate friends telling them that they are unsuccessful pirates due to their one weakness. All being orphans, the Pirates of Penzance are famous for releasing all others who claim to be orphans, this means that all they capture claim to be without parents. The Pirate King and Frederick's former Nanny, Ruth inform Frederick that due to him being born on the 29th of February in a leap year he is, in fact, yet to complete his apprenticeship. Frederick, a slave to duty, rejoins the Pirates. The show climaxes at a showdown between the Pirates and the forces of the Major General. Just as the Pirates get the upper hand, a sharp twist in fate means that Frederick and Mabel do live happily ever after.
